Capacity calculator
How much storage would your site need?
Enter what you know about your connection and load. The calculator draws a simplified day profile and sizes storage to keep demand below your contracted capacity.

Assumptions used in this demonstration
- One synthetic working day in 15-minute steps, built from your inputs; real days vary.
- Base load outside operating hours is 30% of the measured peak; daytime plateau 68%.
- Planned extra load runs at 100% in the first 3 operating hours, 60% during the peak and 35% otherwise.
- Solar output follows a bell curve from 07:00 to 19:00 at only 30% of kWp at noon: a cloudy working day, because peak sizing should not rely on sunshine. Your measured peak is treated as demand before solar.
- Target limit is 95% of contracted capacity as a safety margin.
- Usable depth of discharge 90%, round-trip efficiency 92%, 10% sizing margin.
- Rounded up to Kern 125 cabinets (62.5 kW / 125 kWh) or Kern Block containers (1,250 kW / 2,500 kWh).
What this is – and is not
An indicative size to start a conversation. It is not advice, not a quote and not a certified calculation, and no savings are guaranteed. It does not include costs, tariffs, subsidies, ageing, temperature, grid operator requirements or the space on your site.
The next step is a load-data analysis based on a year of your 15-minute meter data.
