GEO: making your business readable for AI search.

Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) means making sure AI search tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers can find, read and correctly describe your business. We record how those tools describe you today, fix the foundations, write factual pages and check again. Nobody can force a mention, and we don't pretend otherwise.

Why this matters now

  1. Clients ask AI assistants instead of typing into a search engine.
  2. Those answers leave your business out, or describe it wrongly.
  3. Your site is hard for machines to read: lots of imagery, few facts.
  4. There are promises about 'ranking in ChatGPT' that nobody can keep.

What a GEO engagement actually involves

Most of the work is unglamorous: checking that AI crawlers may visit your site, that pages render without JavaScript, that your services, service area and terms are stated plainly, and that structured data describes your organisation correctly. Then come pages that answer the questions buyers put to AI tools, written so a sentence can be quoted without losing its meaning.

How we check progress

We put a fixed set of questions to several AI tools, record the answers with date and tool, and repeat that after changes. It's a sample, not a full measurement: answers vary by moment and by user. We report it as such, next to the search and enquiry data we can measure.

What you get

  • A baseline: how AI tools describe your business across a fixed set of questions
  • Crawler access and rendering check (robots.txt, pages readable without JavaScript)
  • Factual pages: what you do, for whom, where and on what terms
  • Structured data (schema.org) for your organisation, services and FAQs
  • A machine-readable site summary where it helps (such as llms.txt)
  • Advice on mentions in sources that suit your business
  • A repeat check, recorded the same way as the baseline

How we work

  1. Baseline

How do AI tools describe your business today, across a fixed set of questions?

  2. Foundations

Technology, structure and facts on the site in order.

  3. Content

Pages that answer client questions directly and verifiably.

  4. Repeat

Ask the same questions again and record what changed.

What drives the cost

01

Current state of the site

How much technology and structure needs to change.

02

Number of services and questions

Each service needs its own factual page.

03

Combined with SEO

Doing both together is more efficient than separately.

What we do

  • Explain what AI tools do and don't show
  • Record how we check AI answers (questions, date, tool)
  • Content reviewed by people

What we don't promise

  • Mentions or recommendations in AI answers
  • A 'position' in ChatGPT
  • Tricks designed to mislead AI systems

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between GEO, AEO and AI SEO?

They are different names for largely the same work: making content usable as a source for AI-generated answers. We use GEO and explain what we do rather than relying on the label.

Can I measure whether AI tools mention me?

Partly. We regularly ask a fixed set of questions and record the answers. That is a sample, not a full measurement: answers vary by moment and by user.

Do I have to choose between SEO and GEO?

No. GEO rests on the same foundations, which is why we offer them together.

Does GEO work for every business?

The basics (clear facts, sound technology) help every business. How often AI tools mention a company also depends on factors outside your website.

Where can I read more first?

Our guide 'What is GEO?' explains the principles without the sales pitch.
